The confederate statues are generic in there make up and don't need to be torn down; but merely rededicated to Union soldier. That would save thousands of Dollars and retain the history & sacrifice of the Union soldiers that fought for the principle of the Constitutions & Declaration of Independence.
When they take down a confederate statue; they should replace it with a Union statue. History does need to be remembered but from the right side of History. To End this reverse prejudice of the white American. Equality of the people and a responsible outlook. Hundred thousand men gave their lives, some wounded for the remainder.
A generic statue that was place in several locations along with other statues I have seen statues in one location and then seen it at another location.. A plaque rededicating this statue for a union solder, with the date, of the rededication will hold this event in Time and history. I look at these statues thinking they were dedicated to union soldiers and was surprised that they were to confederate soldiers by reading the plaque. Change the plaque and change the meaning.
Black slavery started in Africa over a thousand years ago and promoted on The Ottoman trail and it wasn't until America stood up for the, Declaration of Independence ( Preamble to the Constitution ), Equality of all men. That Black slavery in America was ended.
